Business Ethics is a really hot topic these days. If you need to convince yourself of that, you simply have to pick up any current news paper or magazine and it will likely take you less than a few minutes to find an article that has to do with ethics in business, or perhaps, the perceived lack thereof. "I first started noticing the demand for this topic when reviewing our web site statistics," reported Dave Kinnear, CEO and Founder of dbkAssociates, Inc., a management consulting firm. "More than fifty percent of the hits on our site were coming from folks searching for ethics topics."

A case in point is when, last January, he received a phone call from Carol Martling of Martling & Company. Ms. Martling was launching an upscale executive retreat planning company and needed content on ethics in business, among many other topics of interest to executives. She envisioned a full-service Destination Management Firm specializing in three southern cities: Miami, Savannah, and Charleston. While researching the ethics topic, Ms. Martling landed at the dbkAssociates web site where she found the article authored by Mr. Kinnear explaining how, in his view, Ethics is a Business Process. The rest is history. "Companies and conferences are requesting repeat programs on ethics," stated Mr. Kinnear, "and the article on the web site continues to drive a very significant portion of our unique hits."

With all the high profile cases coming to the forefront in business news, and with all the work companies are putting into Sarbanes-Oxley compliance issues, this topic is not likely to go away any time soon. It will be interesting to see just how busy this team of presenters will be for executive team building and brainstorming retreats.
